Kagga Kamma is an exclusive 4 star private nature reserve, situated in peaceful southern Cederberg Mountains surrounded by an amazing rock formations and spectacular scenery.
We stayed there in July – but even in the winter months Kagga Kamma is the perfect holiday destination and offers an ideal escape from the daily routine and gives such a memorable experience.
After a long drive to the reserve we were welcomed by a friendly team, offered a welcome drink, quickly & professional checked in and introduced to the reserve and its facilities with a lovely tour around.
Shortly after, we were taken to the Cave – our home for the next two nights. The Cave Room was really tastefully decorated with a comfortable double bed, air-conditioning, coffee & tea facilities, warm blankets (needed during the winter months), hairdryer, en-suite bathroom (towels and bathrobes, shampoos, shower gel, lotion and even sunscreen provided) and a cosy patio area outside allowing for maximum views of the horizon and the Cederberg Mountains.
No TV – as you simply don’t need it here.
Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve offers two types of luxury accommodation: 5 Huts and 10 Cave rooms and are perfect for single travellers, couples or families.
There is also a pool build into the rock formations with absolutely beautiful view.
The reserve has a curio shop, Spa if you are looking for a bit of pampering (using TheraVine Products) as well as fully equipped conference facilities.
Kagga Kamma offers great outdoor activities from Game Viewing, Game Drives, Night Drives, Quad Bikes, Picnics, Swimming, Bird Watching, Hiking Trails, 4×4 Trails, Stargazing and their signature Bushman Culture Tour.
We truly enjoyed the Bushman Culture Tour. On the way we spotted Blue Wildebeest and Black-backed Jackal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was a pure pleasure to listen to all the stories he told us about the Bushman and their lives. He was also knowledgeable about different plants growing around the reserve.
Another highlight at Kagga Kamma is Mini-Observatory from where you can see stars and planets closer than ever. Unfortunately cloudy conditions did not allowed us to experience it – but we promissed ouselves, definitely next time.
The restaurant at Kagga Kamma serves three meals and “oh boy” we enjoyed it so much.
Their Chef is just Fantastic. From Breakfast to Dinner – portions are beautifully presented, generous and very tasty.
An excellent range of wines is also on offer to compliment your meal.
During our stay the weather wasn’t that great so we had our meals in the very cosy restaurant, but you can also enjoy dining in the Outdoor Lapa (strictly weather and seasons permitting). I can only imagine how lovely it must be, after a day of exploring, to relax by the fire, interact with other guests and enjoy a delicious meal.
The Bar and Lounge are very cosy with a fireplace and TV for those who like to watch news or sport events.
We absolutely enjoyed every moment at Kagga Kamma and are already planning our next trip in summer.
