Located just off the famous and beautiful Route 62, part of the South African Garden Route & Klein Karoo, Buffelsdrift Game Lodge offers you an escape to something spectacular and unique. And if you love wildlife you will love this reserve.
We checked in the early afternoon and greeted by friendly receptionist who introduced us Buffelsdrift in such a interesting way that we knew we will enjoy our stay.
In offer 29 luxury, air conditioned, waterfront tents. Our (very clean and neat) was well equipped with specious en-suite bathroom, bath, an outdoor hot-water shower, fully stocked mini bar fridge, comfortable king size beds, cupboards, desk, telephone, hairdryer, free wi-fi, viewing deck overlooking the dam – where we could observe wildlife (including hippos) and birds through out the day.
Their restaurant offers breakfasts, lunches and dinners with menu focused on authentic Karoo cuisine made of local produce. We enjoyed both dinners with really great atmosphere and good service. Walking from the restaurant to our tent we met a Springbok on our way.
We also enjoyed spending some time by their outdoor swimming pool overlooking the dam. Its a perfect spot for afternoon cocktails, to soak some sun on a warm Karoo day, to rest with a book and to enjoy the nature. We spend hours watching hippos in the dam – really unforgettable experience.
A must while in Buffelsdrift is a Bush Safari with one of their passionate and knowledgeable gudes. Our started in the afternoon and we were lucky to see so many animals including Elephant, Meerkats, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Rhino, Springbok and much more.
Our drive took ± 2 hours with a refreshment break just before sunset at one of their scenic lookout points.
Except Bush Safari there are several activities in offer including stargazing, meerkat safari, bush walks and more.
At night we could hear animals roaming around the tent and we spend time listening to noises until very late at night – absolutely loved it.
For those who like a bit of pampering there is a Spa overlooking the dam offering massage therapy, facials and more. With soothing sounds of wildlife and soft music in the background relax is guaranteed.
