GlenWood is a boutique winery located in Robertsvlei Valley just a short and oh how beautiful drive from Franschhoek.
Why we choose GlenWood? We loved the introduction to their bistro:
“Our lunchtime bistro invites guests to enjoy a long, relaxing lunch of original, imaginative cuisine that has been carefully paired with our award winning wines. “
Approaching the vineyards gives you a feeling you discovering something unique, idyllic and so peaceful. The main house is nestled between hills and have the most beautiful view of the mountains and vineyards around.
It’s a quiet and perfect place to relax.
The Rendezvous Bistro offers a lovely setting including indoor and outdoor area. An outdoor area is created so you can enjoy magnificent views and the nature around you. Beautiful.
Menu offered has been “created for the purpose of table-sharing so that guests can taste a variety of dishes” and it’s delicious.
We had Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad topped with Bacon, Croutons, Anchovies, Fried Egg as well as
Crisp Pork Belly with a Cucumber Salad and Coriander Chilli Sauce
& Beetroot Salmon Trout Gravadlax with a Celeriac Salad and a Honey Mustard Dressing
…ending with Rendezvous Eton Mess – Meringue, Honeycombe, Chocolate, Berries, Cream and Butterscotch. Delish!
All well presented and made with love.
We also enjoyed their Sauvingon Blanc which complimented our meal beautifully.
What should be mentioned is the fact that GlenWood have the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. They made us feel so welcome.
After lunch we had a quick stroll through the vineyards soaking up some sunshine and enjoying some fresh air.
