#TravelChatSA Experiences: Beautiful Benguela Cove Estate & Wine on The Lagoon Experience #BenguelaCove
Beginning of November #TravelChatSA Experiences yet again were hosted by an amazing estate in Western Cape.
“Only 1 hour from Cape Town International airport, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Hermanus lies the 200-hectare security estate, Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, a unique piece of real estate in South Africa which is surrounded by the Botriver lagoon a natural lagoon which is teeming with fish and birdlife.”*
Group of Selected Bloggers, Writers and Influencers were treated to a day out that we will never forget.
MLT Car Hire and Tours offers large fleet of rental vehicles will leave you spoilt for choice. Whether on holiday, business or needing a longer term rental, we have the keys. Unbeatable rates with quick and easy processes.
Wine Safari: we started with a Vineyards Safari – a drive through the 200-hectare Banguela Cove Estate with our very entertaining guide – Joseph. We learned about growing cycles, farming techniques and in general what Banguela Cove Estate is about.
Wine Tasting on the Lagoon: next stop was a Boat House where Lady Bonnie pontoon boat was waiting for us to take us for an unforgettable wine on the lagoon experience. The weather was perfect for it and we enjoyed relaxed boat trip across the lagoon with an amazing views of the estate and the surrounding mountains.
The Secret Location – Oh! Wow!
The Images will tell all… spectacular views!
Lunch at Benguela Cove Manor House: we were blown away by the views from the dunes and fantastic tasting on the beach but the cherry on top of the experience was at the beautiful Manor House.
“Moody Lagoon at Benguela Cove is set in the heart of the Benguela Cove winery complex, the restaurant is in an elevated setting with expansive views of the lagoon and the Atlantic ocean. The kitchen at Moody Lagoon is the domain of Annie Badenhorst a talented young Namibian chef with a passion for finding only the best fresh produce and creatively turning dishes into simple but creative menu items.”*
We were treated to a 3-course menu and selection of their world winning wines in a opulent setting of the Manor House.
Jack Black their passionate Restaurant Manger & Sommalier took us through wine paired with menu and entertained us through out the experience. The dishes were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
NOTE: Moody Lagoon will be moving shortly to its new home at Benguela Cove on 14th December 2017
Without a doubt an Experience at Benguela Cove was a highlight of 2017 and we truly enjoyed every minute there.
What Others are saying?
Please read here blog post here – Spending the day at Benguela Cove Lagoon
My experience at Benguela Cove with the #TravelChatSA ladies was eventful. We were warmly welcomed with beautiful views of the surroundings on the estate and of course some wonderful Benguela Cove wine. We had a spectacular time touring around the Lagoon with our tour guide Henry who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and history of the estate. I can positively say we had a wonderful time on the boat trip and the beautiful beach hidden behind the sand dunes was definitely a great treat none of us expected. As part of the experience, we had a spectacular lunch at the Benguela Manor and tasted more amazing Benguela Cove wines.
My first #TravelChatSA experience day was certainly unforgettable. The day was filled with amazing people to share the day and experience with, taking loads of photo’s, spectacular views, food, wine and great service from everyone at Benguela Cove.
Benguela Cove Wine Estate is definitely something very special, not to be missed whilst travelling along the Cape Whale Coast. Apart from the beautiful setting and the amazing views I mostly enjoyed the wine tasting on the lagoon and the time at the remote beach, which offers even more breath taking views. The staff of Benguela has been wonderful throughout and very knowledgeable. Our guide Henry made the estate tour fun and informative. The highlight of the day was the vegan fine dining experience. Talented chef Annelie Badenhorst has definitely impressed me with her plantbased options. The presentation and the flavours of the dishes were just mind blowing. My main was a vegan mushroom risotto and the grand finale to top it all, a trio of sorbet, which was an explosion of the senses and went really well with the Benguela Cove dessert wine. I’ll be back for more again soon.
For me, spending time at the stunning and luxurious lagoon wine estate Benguela Cove, part of the Hermanus Wine Route, is a feast for all senses!
It is the ultimate food and wine extravaganza and a definite must do on your #wine estate bucket list.
Why visit? From the gorgeous lagoon and mountain views you see upon arrival at the stylish Tasting Room, a guided safari vineyard tour by the very knowledgeable Henry to tasting their award-winning wines on the Bot River lagoon aboard the Lady Bonnie including a stop on the dunes with glorious ocean views (and some more wine tasting!), with the grand finale being an exquisite fine dining feast at the elegant Benguela Manor House, this was a day that I will treasure and remember forever. Thank you #TravelChatSA for this amazing experience.
