“We decided 2 years ago to buy a piece of land to fulfil our dream: to go organic, off the grid, and live a self-sustaining way of life. And we wanted to share this with likeminded friends, family and guests.” Steyn and Harry
Haesfarm, a 40-hectare fynbos farm in the Overberg (South Africa) outside Stanford, was bought in 2012 by Harry and Steyn. Together they wanted to realize a dream…to go off the grid, be self-sustainable and create an eco-friendly environment. With minimal carbon footprint.
Situated against a hill some 12 km from the village with breathtaking views over the valley, the ocean and Hermanus, Harry and Steyn set out to create a house to take full advantage of the views. The existing farm house was transformed into the guest part of the house, where they created a library, open plan veranda with seating space, 2 en suite guest rooms, outside shower and whole farm to explore.
“Wealth is time, space & freedom”
Yes, just 2 rooms. Maximum 4 guests at any time can enjoy this. Imagine 10 hectares per guest. Ultimate privacy, across time, nature, silence and space await those visiting HaesFarm. Together with the undivided attention of the hosts to create unique experiences.
It is not just merely another accommodation option, with backgrounds in architecture, hospitality and wellness, they invite you into their world of art, music and design.
Their house is also a showcase of personal art and furniture, once-off pieces and limited editions.
“Each piece has a story to tell and we happily share it with likeminded individuals, wishing to experience something different and out of the ordinary. We invite you to come and spend some time on our special farm. Relax, rejuvenate and be inspired by nature, architecture and art…Enjoy time, experience nature, feel the space and listen to silence.”
