Save the Date: Cape Camino 7 – 13 September 2018, South Africa / @capecamino #camino #capecamino
“Can’t afford to travel to Spain to walk the famous Camino de Santiago? Don’t despair, the Cape Camino is equally alluring… If you’re a walker looking for a meaningful challenge, add the Cape Camino to your bucket list.” – Fiona Macintosh, freelance photojournalist and author of Hike Cape Town, Jacana Media, 2014.
The route is open all year round but we have set 4 dates in 2018 for individuals and small groups of pilgrims to get together. If you seek the solitude of a personal journey, within the comfort and company of other like-minded walkers; sharing accommodation, food, wine, stories, laughs and blisters, then a set date Camino is for you.
Cape Camino, a walking pilgrimage route around the Cape Peninsula has hosted two sets date Caminos already and have another two coming up in September and November 2018.
The next one is a seven day Camino in September 2018. It begins in the wine producing suburb of Constantia and ends at the white sandy beach of Camps Bay, with coastal roads and forested footpaths in between. The setting is peri-urban and of mixed terrain, through towns and villages, along beaches, through wine lands and forests.
The route offers diverse sacred spaces, from Catholic shrines to eco spiritual spaces; neighbourhoods and communities with micro business service providers; and guides with knowledge on the natural environment.
Each day is between 17-25km, from 4 and 6 hours walking depending on your pace. Walkers need a moderate level fitness, with an ability to walk long distances, consecutively. A maximum of 14 walkers per Camino will be able to participate.
The weather in September is moderate, which makes for perfect Camino weather. Each day you’ll begin early and end early.
There are two package options available, a basic and an inclusive option.
Price from R5 885.00 per person

“What started out as an adventure holiday turned out to be a real pilgrimage for me and my wife the last 7 days doing the Cape Camino…From making new friends to hospitality on the route and sharing hardships with people crossing our way, all was a life changing experience. This is definitely a journey that needs to be on your list.” – Mike Henning, April 2018.
“I’ve done trails all over the world (including the Camino de Santiago three times) and this one is as good as any. From mountains to oceans to vineyards… this trail has it all. And the people I met were fantastic and I look forward to new lifelong friendships with them. I could not recommend this trail more enthusiastically! Buen Camino!” – TripAdvisor review 2017.
