They will be mingling with other sporting royalty, musicians and fans today and tomorrow, but on Thursday some of the celebs attending the annual Cape Town 10s tournament enjoyed the Mother City’s beauty and hospitality, brought to them by Cape Town Tourism and event owners Old School Group.

Bob Skinstad, Bryan Habana, Vanes-mari Proudfoot, Siv Ngesi, Percy Montgomery and Robbie Fleck were but a few of the Cape Town 10s ambassadors who gathered in Cape Town on the eve of the city’s pre-eminent annual social sport and lifestyle event for a Red Bus Tour of the city.
With nine different sport codes and 18 music acts presented at the Hamilton Rugby Club in Cape Town on 1 and 2 February, the Cape Town 10s is an event not to be missed.
“I’m so excited for the Cape Town 10s,” said former Springbok Bob Skinstad.
“I just arrived and jeepers, Cape Town is much warmer than minus 5 in the UK! I’m delighted to be pulling out the shorts and t-shirts.”
Skinstad added that he was looking forward to seeing all the teams in action over the next two days.

Proteas netball player Vanes-mari Proudfoot couldn’t contain her excitement for this year’s Cape Town 10s netball league.
“I can’t wait to see what the girls have come up with. The outfits, I hear, are beautiful, and also very short, so I’m expecting a lot of spectators. Some of the girls have been practicing for this Cape Town 10s since the last Cape Town 10s, so I’m expecting very high levels of fitness. Good luck to everyone participating in all the sport codes, but especially netball,” she added.
Former Springbok and celebrity coach Bryan Habana enjoyed seeing the beauty of Cape Town and experiencing some of the most enjoyable spots in and around the city on Thursday.

He is also looking forward to the weekend – not only because of the camaraderie shared with rugby friends and fans but also to see the expansion of the Cape Town 10s over nine different sport codes.
“I can’t wait for a really fantastic weekend,” he said.
This sporting highlight of the year offers nine different sport codes, including rugby, netball, hockey, soccer, beach volleyball, dodgeball and the live-streaming of an Esports tournament, as well as entertainment by the likes of Richard Stirton, Rivertones, Rockafellas and Jack Parow, who will also feature in the Old School Celeb Rugby team.
Habana’s Oakheart VIP Invitational Team will feature a star-studded cast of former Springboks and provincial players such as Jongi Nokwe, Bolla Conradie, Henno Mentz, Andries Strauss and Hanyani Shimange, to name but a few. They are competing in the Vets League and will be supported by the likes of Bakkies Botha, Butch James, Bob Skinstad, Robbie Fleck, Marius Joubert, De Wet Barry, Percy Montgomery and Stefan Terblanche.
Rugby enthusiasts will have the opportunity to watch and mingle with some of the legends of the game. Other players-turned-coaches for the event are Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth, coaching the Espolon Etzebeth BARbarians, Stormers hooker Scarra Ntubeni, coaching the Ubumbo Legends, and current Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, coaching the Abantwana Bomgquba.
Another team to watch out for is the Old School Celebs Rugby Team, coached and captained by local comedian and actor Siv Ngesi and featuring various actors, musicians, and other celebrity players like former PSL football player Ryan Botha, rapper Jack Parow, Expresso presenter Graeme Richards, and comedian Rob van Vuuren.
Social rugby teams from all over South Africa will compete in seven different divisions, including a Vets division, a Social division, and a Premier 10s division, featuring cup winners from various 10s and 7s tournaments throughout South Africa.
To add spice to the event, former Springbok lock Bakkies Botha will launch his new boerewors brand over the weekend.
The first ever “Run The 10s” event – a 5.5 km run through the Cape Town Stadium and along the well-known Sea Point Promenade – will take place on Saturday.
