Summer time heralds the time to “Celebrate Life” and what better way to do this than to indulge in a sumptuous high tea.
It’s the time to plan an afternoon of indulgence with your friends (or family) and take a short drive out to the beautiful De Hoek Country Hotel in the magnificent Magaliesberg.
This popular ritual was originally made fashionable by Anna, the Duchess of Bedford in the early 19th century, when high tea was considered to be a ladies’ occasion.
De Hoek’s team of chefs has created a High Tea menu worthy of a Duchess – an array of sweet and savoury delicacies to accompany your choice of Althaus tea and one that will please and satisfy all palates.
The “Sweety” menu is made up of delectable fresh fruit tartlets, scones with strawberry preserves and chantilly cream, pistachios, Portuguese custard tartlets, Lamingtons, Macaroons and chocolate cigars, and the “Salty” consists of scrumptious smoked salmon trout, pumpernickel sandwiches, Chicken choux pastry puffs, traditional egg mayo sandwiches, Spanakopita, tzatziki, mini pita, beef, lettuce, grilled veggie pot, Brie & cranberry baskets, Watermelon, goat cheese, black sesame and both are sure to delight.
High Tea is served in the gardens on Saturdays from 13h00 – 17h00 for R325.00 per person (includes the menu, tea or coffee and a glass of MCC).
Booking is essential.
